Too bad you have kept your head in the sand all these years. Now its time for the youth to pick up your garbage, deal with your pollution, pay for all your wars, and protect whats left of our freedoms. You dont even have a grasp on the meaning of "impeach". You had your turn to say something and do something and you failed. now go away or wake up.

It should be a crime for BB to serve in California. She is a Democrate and always votes with her party. She does not represent the Republicans in half of Calif.
We have as long as memory never had a Senator. She disenfranchised us.

You miss the whole point - time. We need oil immediately. We cannot allow our government to keep printing money to solve our problem. We have the oil, we have to create these other sources - time is of the essence!

This is dated information (for 2010). Please update. Sounds like this is the general rule of thumb in CA: "It is important that your voter registration form be filled out completely and be postmarked or hand-delivered to your county elections office at least 15 days before the election." http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/elections_vr.htm

I voted for all the right reasons.
    1. Protect jobs
    2. Create a "Check & Balance" Government
    3. Eliminate Cap And Trade which isn't good business sense for every geographical location.
Gigi, you skirted away from replying of my observation on China's environmental nightmare and South America's deforestation, why? California isn't the sole contributor to what you call Global Warming. Scientists once said the earth was flat, I think you would of believed them while I would've not without proof. We all call it climate change now, get up to speed. Anyway, climate change has been proven by scientists to be cyclic, you cannot pick and choose scientists based upon what favors what you want to hear. There are people out there that want to roll back our world to a pre-industrialized society. What will you do without a hair dryer, a TV, radio, refrigerator? Those people want us to live in squalor or not live at all. Hidden agenda!

Actually, I AM unemployed, but I also believe in the saying that "Even the journey of 1,000 miles begins with a single step."

If not now, later may be too late. There's no point in having a job if we don't have food to buy, stable weather to drive to work in, and a greater purpose other than ourselves to work towards.

And if you think "little California" won't make a difference, why are you bothering to vote?

    41638_100000433416673_7202_n_small

So you actually believe that little California would have an impact on the Global Climate? What about deforestation of South America and China's industry. Have you seen the air quality in China? Now isn't the time to set an example unless you too want to be in a soup line.

If you are sure you registered to vote before the deadline (October 18th), you should go to the polls tomorrow with a valid ID.

If they don't have you on their rolls, fill out a provisional ballot.

    Good voting!

Thank you for taking the time to give an in depth answer to this question. I realize I wasn't asking in the most fair way possible. In fact I'm actually for development and in-fill when it makes sense. There are just so many things wrong with this project I remain optimistic that it will not go forward and this beautiful part of Oakland can be developed in a sane manner.

Thanks again. You have my vote.

    Joe,
Isn't it a myth that big boxes create a lot of new jobs. Don't small businesses create the most net new jobs? Don't big boxes drive out local, independent competitors out of business? And in doing so, don't big box retailers, over time, ruin the "vibe" or a town? Isn't this clear when you travel to most cities USA? Is this really what Oaklanders want? Aren't there smarter plans to create local wealth, career opportunities (and potentially ownership) for our citizens other than trying to attract Target and Wal-Mart or other companies that are demonstratively counter to all the goals you mention? If elected, I urge you NOT to provide big box retails tax breaks and incentives. Keep the playing field even. Support sales tax fairness so local brick-n-mortar can compete with online companies. Help our small businesses, mico-business, and citizenry blossom. And leave the chains in Emeryville.

I'm against it because it sends money to Sacramento?!

I know this is a controversial measure, and there are plenty of people who take the "No" position. But that is, hands down, the dumbest reason I have ever heard. She opposes it because she doesn't want the state government to have more money coming in?

I shudder to think of what she would do in the Senate if she were elected.

I'm going to make sure everyone in my social network sees this video. Friends don't let friends vote for idiots.

I would really like to see him actually do that. The people could potentially file a human rights law suit against the federal government. Also, I said as of January first marijuana will be decriminalized not legalized, whether prop 19 passes or not Arnold has already signed an initiative that will criminalize marijuana and have a max penalty of a $100 fine like a parking ticket.

To quote Attorney General Eric Holder, "We will vigorously enforce the CSA [Controlled Substances Act] against those individuals and organizations that possess, manufacture or distribute marijuana for recreational use, even if such activities are permitted under state law." You can read more about his statement on the LA Times website at http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2010/10/even-if-prop-19-passes-us-atty-gen-eric-holder-says-federal-drug-laws-will-be-vigorously-enforced-against-people-who-grow-dis.html.

The law is more nuanced than "on January 1, you can start consuming cannabis." Find out yourself by reading the summary at http://www.voterguide.sos.ca.gov/propositions/19/title-summary.htm or the entire text of the Proposition (it's really short... take the time to read it) at http://www.voterguide.sos.ca.gov/pdf/english/text-proposed-laws.pdf#prop19

Thats the conservative propaganda that has kept us in the dark so long. The US Attorney General has "indicated" haha where? when?
If they were to enforce this, they would have a human rights issue on their hands. If it passes, the people will have made the decision, they want it. If the government said "no you cannot have this" they would be blatantly going against what the people want, and they dont want that. They may not support the proposition, but I question you to get some real facts before you come on here and make these claims.

To the OP- as of January 1st the decriminalization of marijuana will go into effect, prop 19 should go into effect the next morning when all votes have been counted I suppose.

No on 27 and yes on 20. We cannot trust the legislature to be an impartial party to the voters. Prop 20 keeps the redistricting in the hands of the Citizens Redistricting Commission. Prop 27 reverses this, lets stand by our decision from 2008. YES on 20, No on 27!

It's a shame that the same woman responsible for dumping millions of crappy printers into our landfills for the profit of herself and her shareholders should be looked upon for an opinion on civil rights. She led a company that engineered waste and built technology that was designed to break in a year's time so that you would constantly have to replace it over and over again, creating a huge waste of resources and untold amounts of pollution. This woman doesn't care one whit about humanity and is only in this race to make herself and her constituency rich. NOW is the time to vote your heart and VOTE FOR FREEDOM not GRAFT. Gay people will ALWAYS be second class citizens to Carly Fiorina ... even lower than "poor people" who are allowed to marry and serve in the armed forces. Don't let her gender fool you. She is a malicious attack bot for the Republilcan party spewing the rhetoric of division and dissent so she can harvest more of your sweat and your dollars. She's a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Ice cream is potentially harmful, especially Ben and Jerry's. Do you think the government should regulate your consumption of it? Throw you in jail if you eat more than a pint a day? It will clog your arteries and stop your heart eventually. Marijuana is a medicine that can also be used for rest and relaxation, psychological insight, and a host of legitimate ailments. You can also de-stress and enjoy a movie at home OR you can smoke yourself out into oblivion every day, drive your car high and kill yourself or someone else... get the point? At some point we have to take personal responsibility for the things we do and stop looking to the government to make decisions for us. Sure they can tax and regulate for people that can't make decisions for themselves, like children, but fighting the use of a natural substance that has so many benefits is foolish, wasteful and INVITES criminality and malignancy into our concept of its use. Marijuana isn't harmful. It's beneficial. Abusing it, like abusing ice-cream, can be harmful, but don't blame the substance, blame the choice to abuse it.
