Great article. Exactly what I was looking for. Sad. But thanks!

Do you think that the President of Mexico wrote to President Obama and the head of the DEA to fight Prop 19 if it passes because his economy, and maybe his own income, might suffer?

There is much more to the story than just Anna Yates. The main concern has to do 1)with the size, maturity, interest paid and tax implications of the bond, and 2) the relative dearth of information provided to the voters to make a proper judgment.

I was under the same impression about Harris - that she might defend it. But she was deliberately evasive when asked that question in her debate with Cooley at Davis. She merely said she would convene a panel of top lawyers within the AG's office and make an evaluation of whether the law was constitutional. I would have appreciated a firm commitment to defend it if the office came to the conclusion that the law was defensible. She wasn't willing to go that far.

However, I don't think Brown would defend prop 19. He appeared to be firmly indoctrinated by many of the falsehoods about legalization that have been around for years. I think he actually believes that legalization would turn our kids into a bunch of dropouts, overrun our cities with crime, and make our roads more dangerous. The fact that he seems to believe that nonsense strongly disqualifies him, in my mind, for governor of any state. I may just hand off my vote to Laura Wells, the Green Party candidate, unless Brown starts making some sense.
